What happens when man dies? If he is righteous, where does his soul go? Can we communicate with ghosts? Almost all religions believe that when a person dies, his soul gets separated from his body and goes somewhere. The soul remains immortal until the Judgment Day. Others believe that the soul of a dead person assumes a new body-be it human or animal. Many Christians teach that the righteous souls go immediately to heaven after death. The wicked go immediately to hell where they are tormented with fire eternally. If they are not good enough, but neither are they wicked, they go to purgatory where they are "purged" or cleansed for a period of time in preparation for their transfer to heaven. Praise be to Allah! We need not be afraid of ghosts and various elements from the so-called spirit world. Allah has given us both the previous and later revelations that give us light and guidance for our "reality check". From the Word of Allah, we can also find the assurance of His protection and care. Here is His promise to Adam and to all of us: "...There comes to you guidance from Me. Whosoever follows My guidance, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve." Surah 2:38.
