The Path of Giving
Why do we need to give? When we give
our money for God's cause, would that make Him richer and us
poorer? When we give alms to the poor, are we not making them
lazy and dependent on us?
The principle of giving and receiving is an integral part
of God's system. It is a law of nature, a natural cycle. Water
evaporates as it is absorbed for condensation in the clouds.
Then the clouds release it in the form of rain to water the earth.
As more rain comes down, the earth's supply of water flows from
brooks and streams to rivers down to the sea. And the cycle goes
on.
Plants and trees need carbon dioxide. We need oxygen. God
has established the principle of reciprocal relationship between
the plants and us. The plants and trees give oxygen. We breathe
out carbon dioxide which plants and trees nee. Once this principle
is broken, life ceases to function. Death ensues.
What would happen if the heart stops giving and pumping out
blood? The heart itself will die, for its coronary muscles need
fresh supply of oxygen. But its capillaries must give up carbon
dioxide.
